Puff Pastry with Chicken and Vegetables

A very easy yet delicious and distinctive recipe for preparing a chicken and vegetable bake in puff pastry. A dish that works as a main course or as a side on the table.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • Ready-made puff pastry dough
  • Chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 red pepper or any color available
  • Fresh or canned mushrooms
  • 1 cup green peas, fresh or frozen
  • A pinch of curry powder
  • Black pepper
  • Salt

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Cut the chicken into medium-sized pieces, sauté them over the heat in a little vegetable oil in a nonstick pan.
  2. Add the onion, peppers, mushrooms and the remaining ingredients and spices to the chicken and cook them all over low heat, stirring.
  3. Cut the puff pastry rolls into lengthwise pieces. Place them in a glass oven dish greased with a little oil or butter.
  4. Place the larger piece of dough as the bottom layer and put the filling of fried chicken with onion, peppers, mushrooms and peas on top.
  5. Over the filling, arrange strips of puff pastry, one lengthwise and one crosswise, to form a lattice pattern as shown in the accompanying photo.
  6. Brush the puff pastry with egg or milk and bake the dish in the oven until it is cooked and golden.
