Ingredients
- 1 kg boiled potatoes
- 1/2 cup liquid milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt to taste
- Crushed rusk or breadcrumbs for the top
- Filling:
- Minced meat
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- A pinch of seven‑spice mix
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of sumac
- Vegetable oil
Method
- Mash or purée the boiled potatoes with the milk and butter, add salt to taste and mix until smooth.
- Prepare the filling: sauté the finely chopped onion in a little oil until translucent, then add the minced meat and cook until it dries out and changes color.
- Add the spice mix, sumac and salt and stir.
- Leave the filling on the heat until it is fully cooked.
- When the filling is ready, divide the mashed potato mixture into two equal parts and spread the first part in a baking dish or glass Pyrex.
- Evenly spread the filling over the first layer of potatoes.
- Spread the second portion of mashed potatoes over the filling evenly until it is completely covered.
- Sprinkle crushed rusk or breadcrumbs over the top of the potatoes.
- Place the Pyrex or baking dish in the oven until it takes on a golden color on the top and bottom.
