  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • A pinch of vanilla
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • ½ cup or 100 g butter
  • Sesame seeds, as desired
  • 1 tablespoon mahleb
  • 1 tablespoon cake spice mix (dakka)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • You can work with the dough immediately; no need to proof it. Shape the dough as desired on the mold or into letters or any shape you like. You can add sesame to the dough as desired..
  • You can dust the cookies with powdered sugar after removing them from the oven.

Method

  1. Begin by whisking the eggs with the vanilla.
  2. Add the sugar, oil, and butter alternately with the flour, beat the ingredients well, then add the mahleb, cake spice (also called dakka), and baking powder. Add more flour if needed to obtain a soft but cohesive dough.
  3. You can work with the dough immediately; there is no need to let it rest. Shape the dough as desired on the mold or into letters or any shape you like. Sesame can be added to the dough if desired.
  4. Bake the cookies in a hot oven for no longer than 15 minutes so they do not become hard.

  5. You can dust the cookies with powdered sugar after taking them out of the oven.
