Turkish muhallebi is an easy, simple recipe that I’m sure you’ll love, especially since its ingredients are available in almost every home. Try it and you’ll love it.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups liquid milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • a small piece of softened butter
  • 2 tablespoons powdered dessert cream
  • Decoration as desired
  • Transfer the muhallebi mixture to a pot over the stove, add the piece of butter and stir the mixture over low heat
  • Add the vanilla and continue stirring so the muhallebi mixture does not stick, until it thickens slightly
  • Remove the pot of Turkish muhallebi from the heat and add a sachet or the two tablespoons of powdered dessert cream and whisk well until the mixture thickens
  • Pour the muhallebi into the serving dish, decorate as desired, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until serving time

Method

  1. Pour the milk into a deep bowl.
  2. Add the sugar and whisk while cold until the sugar dissolves, then add the flour and cornstarch, mixing constantly until the ingredients dissolve.
  3. Transfer the muhallebi mixture to a pot over the heat, add the butter, and stir the mixture over low heat.
  4. Add the vanilla and keep stirring so the muhallebi does not stick, until it thickens slightly.
  5. Remove the Turkish muhallebi pot from the heat and add one packet or the 2 tablespoons of dessert cream powder, then whisk well until the mixture thickens.
  6. Pour the muhallebi into a serving dish, decorate as desired, and place it in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours or until serving time.
