Method
- We add the milk, then one spoon of yeast and stir briefly with a hand whisk, then add the egg and a pinch of salt.
- We mix a little, then add one cup of flour and the butter and stir; then add the sugar and the remaining flour and knead by hand for 5 minutes until we get a non-sticky dough. Put it in a bowl covered with plastic wrap and leave it to rise for an hour or more until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough, shape it, and add the desired filling—either cheese, chocolate, or za'atar—and place them again in the warm oven for only 10 seconds without turning on the heat, just to let them proof.
- Leave them for an hour in a warm place, then bake them over low heat and brush the tops with a little butter and milk.
