Honeycomb bread with different fillings... There is no doubt that this recipe will win you over, especially since it will please the children and they will ask for it all the time.
Ingredients
- The dough:
- 6 cups sifted flour
- A pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 to 2 1/2 cups water for kneading, depending on the flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Fillings:
- Feta cheese + mozzarella + very finely chopped onion and parsley
- or
- Chocolate pieces or spreadable chocolate
- Philadelphia cheese or any kind of cream cheese
- Za'atar and oil
- 1 cup shredded coconut + 1 tablespoon syrup + 1/2 cup raisins
- For the top:
- 1/2 cup liquid milk for brushing the top
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons nigella seeds
- 2 tablespoons oats
Method
- Mix the yeast with the sugar and 1/4 cup of lukewarm water and let the yeast activate.
- Place the flour in a bowl... add the activated yeast and the yogurt, then mix.
- Add the water gradually until the dough comes together, then add the oil at the end and knead well for at least 10 minutes.Timers: 10 min
- Divide the dough immediately into small circles.
- Place the desired filling inside the circles, seal them, and roll them into balls.
- Grease a baking tray with a little oil or line the bottom with parchment paper, then arrange the balls close together, seam side down, in the tray. Let them rest for 40 minutes, then brush the tops with milk using a brush.Timers: 40 min
- Sprinkle sesame seeds, nigella seeds, or oats on top and bake the honeycomb bread in a preheated oven at 180°C for 12 to 15 minutes.Timers: 15 min
- Brown it slightly on top.
- Serve the honeycomb bread warm or cold.
