Ingredients

  • 1 bag dried Maghrebi (small dough balls)
  • Boiled chicken
  • Cooked chickpeas
  • Small dried onions
  • Maghrebi spice mix
  • Seven-spice blend (baharat)
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground cumin

Method

  1. Soak the Maghrebi then drain it. Bring a pot of water to a boil. When the water boils, add oil and the Maghrebi and cook until tender. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  2. Place the Maghrebi in a pan over low heat, add butter on top and stir so the Maghrebi absorbs the butter well.
  3. In a skillet, fry the small whole onions in ghee until they brown.
  4. Add the fried onions, the chicken cooking broth and all the spices over the Maghrebi pan and let the mixture simmer. Then add the chicken, cooked chickpeas and salt and simmer gently until the ingredients are well combined.
  5. Serve the Maghrebi hot.
