Hearty chickpea fatteh — there are many ways to make fatteh, but here you get a tried, tasty version from Shoutabkhin :)
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked chickpeas with their cooking water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup tahini
- Fried or oven-toasted or microwaved bread
- For the topping:
- Ghee (clarified butter)
- or
- Half ghee + half oil
- Pinch of pepper
- Pinch of paprika
- Salt
- Fried nuts

Method
- Mix the yogurt with the tahini, crushed garlic, and salt and stir well.
- Add a little water so the mixture is medium-thick—not too thick and not too runny.
- Place the bread in a small baking dish, then put the hot boiled chickpeas on top with just a little of their cooking water, then spread the yogurt mixture evenly over the chickpeas.
- Sprinkle the nuts, pepper, and paprika, then heat oil with ghee until very hot and pour it over the top of the dish.
- Serve the hearty chickpea fatteh immediately.
