Bread Fritters
A very easy and practical recipe, especially when you have stale bread you don’t want to waste. Be sure to remove all moisture from the bread before frying the dough to avoid bubbles in hot oil.
Ingredients

- Arabic bread loaf
- A small pinch of baking powder
- A pinch of vanilla
- Sugar syrup (qatr / shireh)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Cut the bread loaf into medium-sized pieces. Soak them in water, then lift and squeeze them very well until all the water is gone. Be careful to remove all moisture from the dough or bread so the dough does not blister when placed into the hot oil.
- Knead the soaked bread and add the vanilla and baking powder, then shape into small balls.
- Fry the bread balls in very hot oil until they begin to brown. When the fritters turn golden, remove them from the oil and set aside for about 10 minutes.Timers: 10 min
- After that time and once the fritters have cooled slightly, return them to the hot oil and fry them again until they are well browned and crisp.
- Remove the fritters from the heat and immediately dip them in the syrup (qatr / shireh)
