Beef Shawarma
A very easy, tried-and-true homemade beef shawarma recipe. Learn the marinade ingredients as well as the parsley salad and the tahini/tarator sauces served with it. Delicious served as a sandwich.
Delicious homemade beef shawarma
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- Sliced beef suitable for shawarma
- White vinegar
- Shawarma spices
- Ground cardamom
- Vegetable oil
- Onion
- Tomatoes
- Parsley salad
- Onion, sliced
- Finely chopped parsley
- A pinch of salt
- Sumac
- Tahini sauce
- Tahini
- Lemon juice
- Water

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Marinate the shawarma meat with all the marinade ingredients starting the night before.
- Place the shawarma in the oven on a tray with onion slices and let the meat cook.
- Add slices of tomato and return the tray to the oven for a few extra minutes to soften the tomatoes.
- Prepare the parsley salad by mixing all its ingredients.
- Prepare the tarator or tahini sauce: add the lemon to the tahini, add salt and whisk. Begin adding the water gradually while whisking to obtain a medium-thick sauce.
- Serve the shawarma with the parsley salad and tarator.
