- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar (granulated or powdered)
- a pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- For the topping:
- 1 egg, beaten with a pinch of vanilla and a few drops of vinegar
- or
- liquid milk mixed with 1 tablespoon of Nescafé
- sesame seeds
- Note:
- The brioche can be shaped in any form you like
- You can sprinkle it with sugar as soon as it comes out of the oven
- You can fill the brioche with different sweet or savory fillings, as desired
- Also from Fatima, here is Oreo Cake
Method
- First... in a deep bowl, combine the flour with a pinch of salt and the yeast
- In another bowl, beat the butter with one egg, then add this mixture to the flour mixture and knead well
- Then add the milk and continue kneading until you get a soft dough
- Cover it and let it rise for at least 1 hourTimers: 60 min
- After it has risen, divide the dough into pieces of the desired size, then shape it into braids (make three thin ropes from each piece of dough, then twist the ropes together like a braid)
- When all the dough is shaped... grease a baking tray with a little butter and arrange the brioche pieces, then let them rise for another hour until their size doubles
- After that, brush the brioche with the beaten egg mixture with vinegar and vanilla (or the milk with Nescafé) and sprinkle sesame seeds on top
- Preheat the oven and place the tray in the hot oven until the brioche pieces are cooked through and browned on the bottom... they will need about 20 minutes, depending on the ovenTimers: 20 min
- Brown the top as well
- Serve the brioche at room temperature
