Ingredients

  • 1 kg whole-wheat flour (approximately 4 cups)
  • 5 tablespoons za'atar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon "dakkat al-ka'ak"
  • 1 cup room-temperature water

Method

  1. Mix the dry ingredients first, then finally add the oil and water.
  2. Knead well until you have a cohesive dough. Leave it to rest for one hour to ferment and relax.
  3. After the resting time, shape as desired into rounds or lengthwise sticks, then bake in a preheated oven until golden and cooked through.
