Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 6 cups flour
- 1 cup warm liquid milk
- 1 cup warm water
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- Coating the simit
- 1/4 cup honey dissolved in 1/4 cup water
- Or
- 1 beaten egg with a pinch of vanilla
- Garnish
- Sesame seeds or nigella seeds

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- In a bowl, put the flour with the salt, add the oil, and mix well.
- Add 1 cup lukewarm milk and knead briefly.
- Dissolve the yeast with the sugar in 1 cup lukewarm water, then gradually add it to the dough and knead well.
- Let the dough rise for half an hour.
- Shape the dough into braids or rounds and leave them again for 15 minutes to rise.Timers: 15 min
- After the time has passed, place the simit on a baking tray and brush the tops with a honey or egg wash, then sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds.
- Bake in a preheated oven until cooked and nicely browned.
- Serve the Turkish simit with a cup of tea or as desired.
