Ingredients

  • 3 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk powder
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • 1 cup Miranda or any available soft drink
  • A pinch of salt

Method

  1. Start by whisking the eggs well with a pinch of vanilla.
  2. Gradually add the sugar to the eggs and continue whisking well until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes creamy.
  3. Add the vegetable oil and continue whisking for two minutes, then add the Mirinda soda (or any available carbonated drink).
  4. Continue whisking and also add the white vinegar.
  5. Meanwhile, sift the flour with the baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt, and gradually add them to the egg mixture while continuing to whisk.
  6. Grease the cake pan with a little tahini and pour in the Mirinda cake batter; put the pan in a preheated oven at 180°C for 45 minutes or until the cake is cooked, depending on your oven.
  7. It is important never to open the oven door during baking.
