Puff pastry with crème pâtissière — an easy, delicious dessert.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry (ready-made)
  • Crème pâtissière:
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Put the milk with one tablespoon of sugar in a pot over the heat, stirring.
  2. In a second bowl put the eggs, the starch, and one tablespoon of sugar and whisk; then add one teaspoon of vanilla and whisk.
  3. When the milk is hot, pour the egg mixture over it while continuing to stir until the crème pâtissière thickens and reaches the desired consistency.
  4. Let the cream cool completely before using; it can be chilled in the refrigerator.
  5. Place the puff pastry in small molds and put them in the oven until they puff up.
  6. Remove them and let them cool, then fill them with the chilled crème pâtissière.
  7. Serve the puff pastry with crème pâtissière after decorating as desired with fruit such as strawberries and a dusting of powdered sugar.
