  • 2 cups large lentils
  • 1 cup rice
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of black pepper
  • 4 dry onions
  • olive oil

Method

  1. \r\n
  2. Rinse the lentils well, then place them in a pot and cover with water. As the lentils begin to soften, add the rinsed rice with a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper.
  3. Finely chop one onion and sauté in olive oil. Stir this onion into the lentils and rice.
  4. Cover and simmer on low for about 30 minutes.
    Timers: 30 min
  5. Serve the mujadara with fried onion slices on top.
  6. Note: The crispiness of the onions comes from dusting their wedges with starch before frying.
