Kunafa with mozzarella — an easy way to make kunafa at home.
Ingredients
- 2 cups kadayif (shredded kunafa dough) or ready-made kataifi
- ½ cup fine semolina (or fine flour)
- ½ cup melted butter
- 2 tablespoons orange blossom water (or rose water)
- Filling:
- 300 g mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons fine semolina
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Method
- Knead the shredded kunafa pastry (fark), semolina, butter and orange blossom water together, then press the mixture into a buttered baking pan.
- Make a very small hole in the center of the pan so you can see the color change as the bottom begins to brown; place the pan on the stove over medium heat and rotate it so the base browns evenly from all sides.
- In a nonstick pan, put the cheese with the liquid milk, fine semolina and orange blossom water; stir until the cheese melts, becomes stretchy and everything combines well.
- Spread the mixture over the pastry that was previously browned on the bottom, then invert the kunafa onto a plate larger than the pan.
- Pour syrup (qatra) over the surface of the mozzarella kunafa.
- Serve the mozzarella kunafa immediately, and offer extra syrup on the side for those who like more.
