Ingredients

  • Half a kilo fine semolina
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon 'Aqda Safra' - turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground anise or orange blossom water
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • Water as needed
  • Grease the pan with a little butter and place it in the preheated oven. Bake the safouf at about 180°C for approximately half an hour depending on the oven.

Method

  1. Mix the turmeric with the water until well combined. If the turmeric is good quality, you can use just half a tablespoon. Depending on the turmeric or yellow sohbe.....
  2. Mix the fine semolina and vegetable oil, then add the liquid milk, sugar, and all the ingredients with a little water to get a sticky but not runny mixture.. ...
  3. Grease the tray with a little butter and place it in the preheated oven... Bake the safouf at about 180 degrees for around half an hour, depending on the oven...
  4. After baking, add 1 tablespoon butter with 2 tablespoons syrup or sugar syrup and brush the top, then cut it once it cools.
