Petit fours made with an easy homemade recipe. The best thing about petit fours is that they can be stored for a while, as long as they are kept in jars or tightly sealed containers.
Ingredients
- 200 g butter
- 1 cup fine sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 3 cups flour
- 1 small teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 small teaspoon baking powder
- To make chocolate petit fours, add the following to only half of the dough
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- Decoration:
- apricot jam
- +
- desiccated coconut
- or
- chocolate
- sprinkles
- or as desired
Method
- Beat the butter with the sugar and vanilla for about five minutes until the mixture becomes creamy.
- Add the egg yolks gradually, continuing to beat.
- Add the flour and baking powder gradually in batches, stirring with a spoon without kneading, until you get a soft dough that is not too firm.
- At this stage, if you want chocolate petit fours too, divide the dough into two halves and add 1 tablespoon butter and 2 tablespoons cocoa to one half, then mix well.
- Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for half an hour before using.
- Roll out the dough on a clean surface to your preferred thickness, making sure the dough is cold when working with it...
- Cut it with cookie cutters or as desired.
- Bake the petit fours in the oven for only 7 minutes on the lower heat at 180 C, placing the tray on the first rack from the bottom.Timers: 7 min
- Remove them from the oven after just 7 minutes so the pieces do not become hard.Timers: 7 min
- Let them cool to room temperature, then decorate as desired.
