Petit fours made with an easy homemade recipe. The best thing about petit fours is that they can be stored for a while, as long as they are kept in jars or tightly sealed containers.

Ingredients:

200 g butter 1 cup fine sugar 2 egg yolks 3 cups flour 1 small teaspoon vanilla 1/2 small teaspoon baking powder To make chocolate petit fours, add the following to only half of the dough 1 tablespoon butter 2 tablespoons cocoa Decoration: apricot jam + desiccated coconut or chocolate + sprinkles or as desired

Preparation method:

Beat the butter with the sugar and vanilla for about five minutes until the mixture becomes creamy.
Add the egg yolks gradually, continuing to beat.
Add the flour and baking powder gradually in batches, stirring with a spoon without kneading, until you get a soft dough that is not too firm.
At this stage, if you want chocolate petit fours too, divide the dough into two halves and add 1 tablespoon butter and 2 tablespoons cocoa to one half, then mix well.
Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for half an hour before using.
Roll out the dough on a clean surface to your preferred thickness, making sure the dough is cold when working with it...
Cut it with cookie cutters or as desired.
Bake the petit fours in the oven for only 7 minutes on the lower heat at 180 C, placing the tray on the first rack from the bottom.
Remove them from the oven after just 7 minutes so the pieces do not become hard.
Let them cool to room temperature, then decorate as desired.
