Apple jam — a delicious, homemade and nutritious treat
Ingredients
- 1 kg apples
- 3/4 kg sugar (or more, depending on the apples' sweetness)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- To make toast at home to serve with the jam for breakfast, here is the link: Whole wheat toast bread

Method
- Peel the apples, remove the cores, then cut them into small cubes so they cook easily
- Put the apples with the sugar and a very small amount of water in a pot
- Let them come to a boil and skim off the foam whenever it appears
- Stir them every so often so they don't stick to the bottom
- When the liquids reduce and become syrupy and the apples are well cooked, press them with the large spoon until they are mashed
- After that add the juice of one sour lemon and stir, then turn off the heat
- Spoon the jam into clean, dry glass jars that have been sterilized in the sun
- After they cool, close them tightly
- Store the jars in the refrigerator after opening because the jam contains no preservatives
