How Do I Make the Tastiest and Easiest Safouf?
An easy and very delicious recipe for making safouf... Safouf is one of the most loved and well-known traditional desserts across the Arab world.
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 4 cups fine semolina (farikha flour)
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 cups liquid milk, or orange juice, or anise tea
- 1/2 cup milk powder
- 1 teaspoon (2 grams) yeast
- Ice cream tar t with cotton candy
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix all the dry ingredients well and sift them through a sieve, then add the liquid ingredients. You can choose to use liquid milk, orange juice, or warm anise tea.
- Grease a suitable safouf pan with tahini and pour in the safouf mixture.
- Let the safouf batter rest for about half an hour at room temperature.
- Place the safouf pan in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes, or until cooked through and risen, depending on your oven.Timers: 40 min
- Then brush the top of the safouf tray with syrup, sugar syrup, or a mixture of milk and sugar to give the safouf a beautiful shine
