Ingredients

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 level tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • pinch of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Note:

Method

  1. Whisk the eggs, vanilla, and sugar until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes creamy
  2. Add the oil and milk and whisk... until you have a smooth batter
  3. Add the sifted flour with the baking powder
  4. Mix well and add the baking soda and vinegar (mix the soda and vinegar first until they fizz, then pour them over the cake batter)
  5. The vinegar and soda will help make the cake tender and help it rise well
  6. Grease the pan with flour and a splash of oil or tahini, pour the batter into the pan, and place it in the oven on the middle rack for one hour at 180°C; it is important never to open the oven
  7. Note:
  8. After the cake is done, leave it in the oven—do not open the oven at all—and keep it inside for 10 minutes...
