An incredibly easy and tasty French bread dessert. If you want a quick sweet but have little time, this is ideal: the bread soaks in milk, is fried, then dipped in syrup—almost like it’s filled with cream.

Ingredients
- 4 pieces French bread (rolls or slices)
- 5 cups water
- 1 cup powdered milk
- Zest of 1 large lemon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla powder
- Sugar syrup (qatir or simple syrup)

Method
- In a bowl, combine the milk, water, vanilla and lemon zest and mix well
- Cut the bread in half crosswise, dip the pieces in the milk mixture and let them soak for half an hour until they absorb some of it
- Take each piece of bread slowly and carefully place it in hot deep oil
- When it becomes dark in color, flip it to the other side
- Remove them from the oil and place on paper to absorb excess oil
- Dip the French bread dessert in lukewarm syrup, then drain, and serve with fruit as desired
