Easy croissants made with a tried-and-tested recipe and guaranteed to turn out well! A croissant recipe kids will love and keep asking for :) And of course, lighter and healthier than ready-made croissants.
Ingredients
- 5 cups flour - or as needed for the dough
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 3 tablespoons ice-cold water
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- a pinch of vanilla or 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla
- 1/2 cup butter
- 100 grams cold butter for layering the dough later
- a pinch of salt
Method
- First, knead all the ingredients very well for enough time until fully combined
- Add the first amount of butter set aside for the dough and knead well
- Let the croissant dough rest in the fridge or in a cool place for about 1 hourTimers: 60 min
- After that, take the dough out of the fridge and roll it into circles or squares
- Place pieces of the butter we set aside on each circle or square, then place a second circle or square of dough on top, and continue until all the dough and butter are used up
- Place the dough squares with butter in the freezer for about 1 hour, until the butter is well frozenTimers: 60 min
- After the time has passed, take the large croissant square out of the fridge and roll it out again into a large square or circle
- Then start cutting the croissant dough into triangles and fill as desired with cheese, thyme, or chocolate, then roll them into beautiful croissants
- Let the filled and shaped croissants rise in a warm place for at least 2 hoursTimers: 120 min
- After the time has passed, brush the croissants with egg or milk, then place them on parchment paper on a baking tray and bake at 170 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until golden and cooked throughTimers: 15 min
