Dough for all pastries... for manaqish, pies, and pizza — amazing results every time
Ingredients
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- Small pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 to 3 cups warm water, depending on the flour
- Cornmeal to dust the dough pieces after shaping
Method
- Combine the yeast with the sugar and add warm (not hot) water to activate the yeast. Then gradually add the sifted flour along with the remaining water and the yogurt, kneading well until the dough comes together and becomes smooth.
- Finally add the oil and knead again.
- Divide the dough as desired, then coat each piece on all sides with cornmeal so they won't stick together when you place them side by side.
- Cover and let rest for about 1 hour to rise.Timers: 60 min
