Coconut Caramel Balls

An easy, quick dessert with just a few ingredients you likely have at home: coconut caramel balls with a touch of chocolate.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups shredded coconut

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Place half the sugar, i.e. 1/2 cup, in a saucepan over the heat; when the sugar melts add the remaining half and let the sugar melt completely and turn a caramel-brown color.
  2. Put the butter over the sugar and mix well. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
  3. Take about 3 tablespoons of the mixture and set it aside for decorating later.
  4. Let the caramel mixture cool well, then add the coconut and stir; knead by hand and continue adding shredded coconut until the dough stops sticking to your hands.
  5. Shape the mixture into small balls. Make a small well in each ball and fill the well with the reserved caramel. You can also decorate the center with a small chocolate if you like.
