  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • sugar syrup (shīra)
  • Mix well then place the mixture in a baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove the basbousa from the oven, cut as desired and pour the syrup over it

Method

  1. First, mix the dry ingredients well, then add the yogurt, eggs, and the remaining ingredients except for the syrup.
  2. Mix well, then pour the batter into an oven-safe baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
