Chocolate-filled honeycomb bread... Who loves honeycomb bread in all its varieties? It is one of the tastiest and prettiest pastries too. Try our special recipe.
Ingredients
- 5 cups all-purpose white flour
- 1/2 cup non-dissolved powdered milk
- 1 small packet or 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 100 ml vegetable oil
- 400 ml warm water, or as needed
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten with 2 tablespoons milk, for brushing the dough
- Chocolate for filling
- Cold syrup for drizzling over the honeycomb bread after baking (optional)
Method
- Sift the flour with the powdered milk into a large bowl
- Add the sugar, salt, and yeast
- In a separate bowl, mix the oil with the warm water and pour it over the flour mixture
- Knead well until you get a smooth, soft dough
- Cover the dough and let it rest in a dry, warm place for at least 30 minutes, or until it has risen wellTimers: 30 min
- Shape the dough into walnut-sized balls, then flatten each ball, fill it with any available chocolate, and shape it into a ball again
- Arrange the balls in a tray greased with a little vegetable oil
- Brush the tops of the dough balls in the tray with the egg-and-milk mixture
- Bake the chocolate honeycomb bread tray in a hot oven at 190°C for 30 minutes, or until the dough is lightly golden around the edges.Timers: 30 min
- Remove the tray from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes, then drizzle with cold syrup (optional)Timers: 10 min
- Note: For a soft texture after baking, the dough should be slightly slack while kneading
- Using powdered milk in the dough helps keep it soft and gives it a beautiful golden color.
