Recipe story

Chocolate-filled honeycomb bread... Who loves honeycomb bread in all its varieties? It is one of the tastiest and prettiest pastries too. Try our special recipe.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups all-purpose white flour
  • 1/2 cup non-dissolved powdered milk
  • 1 small packet or 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 100 ml vegetable oil
  • 400 ml warm water, or as needed
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten with 2 tablespoons milk, for brushing the dough
  • Chocolate for filling
  • Cold syrup for drizzling over the honeycomb bread after baking (optional)

Method

  1. Sift the flour with the powdered milk into a large bowl
  2. Add the sugar, salt, and yeast
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the oil with the warm water and pour it over the flour mixture
  4. Knead well until you get a smooth, soft dough
  5. Cover the dough and let it rest in a dry, warm place for at least 30 minutes, or until it has risen well
    Timers: 30 min
  6. Shape the dough into walnut-sized balls, then flatten each ball, fill it with any available chocolate, and shape it into a ball again
  7. Arrange the balls in a tray greased with a little vegetable oil
  8. Brush the tops of the dough balls in the tray with the egg-and-milk mixture
  9. Bake the chocolate honeycomb bread tray in a hot oven at 190°C for 30 minutes, or until the dough is lightly golden around the edges.
    Timers: 30 min
  10. Remove the tray from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes, then drizzle with cold syrup (optional)
    Timers: 10 min
  11. Note: For a soft texture after baking, the dough should be slightly slack while kneading
  12. Using powdered milk in the dough helps keep it soft and gives it a beautiful golden color.
  13. The chocolate can be replaced with other fillings such as cheese
