Cinnamon rolls with a detailed, reliable homemade method

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 2 cups milk (warm)
  • or
  • 1 cup milk powder + 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 packet powdered cream (instant cream mix)
  • 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
  • 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • Butter for spreading on the dough
  • Filling
  • Brown sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Cocoa powder (optional)
  • White frosting
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon soft butter
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. First, put the warm milk with the yeast and sugar in a bowl for five minutes, until the yeast activates.
  2. Add the baking powder, a packet of instant powdered cream, the butter, and the salt, and stir.
  3. Add the flour in batches and stir, then knead until you have a cohesive, soft dough. Let it rise for about an hour, or according to room temperature.
  4. When it has risen, roll the dough into a rectangle, brush it with butter, then sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, and cocoa over it and roll it into a log.
  5. Cut the roll into medium-thick pieces.
  6. Place them on a baking tray and leave them for half an hour to rise and double in size.
  7. Bake them in a hot oven at 180°C, or adjusted according to your oven.
  8. Meanwhile, prepare a white sauce: mix the cream cheese with soft butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla until you have a smooth sauce.
  9. When the cinnamon rolls come out of the oven, pour the sauce over them immediately so they absorb it.
  10. Serve the cinnamon rolls hot or at room temperature.
