An easy, delicious apple tart in a tried-and-true home recipe!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 200 grams butter
  • 2 tablespoons superfine (caster) sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Dough preparation:
  • Tart filling:
  • 1 kilogram apples, peeled and cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 50 grams butter
  • A dash of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup water

Method

  1. Wash the apples, peel them, and slice them into slightly thin slices.
  2. Place the apples over heat with 1/2 cup water... add the brown sugar, butter, vanilla, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  3. Leave the mixture over heat for about 10 minutes.

  4. Line a slightly deep tart pan with the tart dough.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the mold or tart pan.
  6. Place the pan in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10 minutes.
    Timers: 10 min
  7. When removing the tart from the oven, garnish it with walnuts.
  8. Place the tart in the refrigerator (not the freezer) for two hours before serving.
