Meat Musakhan with Saj Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 kg onions
  • 1 kg meat, sliced lengthwise like shawarma
  • 2 tablespoons sumac
  • a pinch of spice (bahar)
  • a pinch of salt

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Cut the onion into wedges and sauté them in a pot over the heat with oil, stirring until they soften
  2. Remove the onions from the pot and leave the remaining oil in the pot
  3. Sprinkle the sumac over the onions with a dash of spices and salt
  4. Place the meat into the pot over the oil used to fry the onions, season it with a pinch of salt and spices and stir
  5. Leave the meat on the heat, stirring from time to time until it cooks
  6. Add the onions over the meat and stir them together on the heat for about five minutes
  7. Prepare the bread cut into triangles and start placing a little of the filling into each after it cools slightly, then roll them up and tuck in the sides
  8. Repeat the steps until the mixture is used up
  9. Place the meat musakhan rolls on a nonstick pan to toast the bread, or put them in a baking tray and bake for about five minutes to toast the bread
  10. Serve the meat musakhan hot
