Ingredients

- 1 cup lentils
- 1 cup rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 3 white onions
- Vegetable oil
- Olive oil
- Salt to taste

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Pick through and rinse the lentils, then put them in a pot with hot water and boil them
- Meanwhile, wash the rice and soak it in hot water with a pinch of salt for 20 minutesTimers: 20 min
- When the lentils are cooked, drain them and reserve the cooking water for use
- In a pot, fry a finely chopped onion with a little corn oil
- When the onion wilts, add 1 1/2 cups of the lentil cooking water and salt
- After it boils, add the drained rice, then add the cooked lentils and a little olive oil and stir lightly
- Cover the pot and leave it over medium heat
- As soon as the water dries, reduce the heat, place a clean, very thin cotton towel over the pot under the lid, and leave the pot on low heat for 20 minutes or a bit longer until the rice is cookedTimers: 20 min
- Meanwhile, slice the remaining onions into rings and fry them in plenty of hot oil, stirring constantly, until they turn golden
- When serving the mujadara with rice, spread the drained fried onions on top
