- Orange syrup
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 whole orange, unpeeled

- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup orange juice (or milk)
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Pour the orange juice through a fine sieve to strain it.
- Add the sugar to the strained orange juice.
- Add the lemon juice.
- Place the mixture over low heat until it comes to a boil.
- Slice the whole orange (without peeling) into rounds and add them on top of the orange syrup.
- Let the mixture boil for about 3 minutes, then turn off the heat.Timers: 3 min
- Begin by preparing the caramel. Put the sugar in a non-stick pan and add the water without stirring.
- Gently stir the caramel with a wooden spoon so the mixture doesn’t clump.
- Pour the caramel into the cake pan.
- Arrange the orange slices (without the syrup) on top of the caramel.
- Mix the cake ingredients and pour the batter over the caramel and oranges.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 40 minutes.Timers: 40 min
- When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool well; then invert it onto a serving plate to reveal the caramelized orange top.
