Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 tablespoon rosewater or orange blossom water (optional)
- Apples
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Prepare the crepe batter: in a bowl beat the egg, then add the flour and vanilla. Add the milk, sugar and melted butter and whisk again until smooth.
- Add the rosewater or orange blossom water — optional, added at the end.
- Peel the apples and cut into medium-thick round slices, then remove the cores from the center of each slice.
- Add the apple slices to the crepe batter and gently toss to coat them without breaking.
- Heat a generous amount of oil until hot, then carefully place the coated apple slices into the oil.
- Fry until golden, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- If a little batter remains, stir in 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and fry small crepe rounds to serve with the fried apple slices.
- Arrange the fried apple crepes on a serving plate, dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
