Fried apple crepes — irresistibly tasty and perfect for breakfast

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon rosewater or orange blossom water (optional)
  • Apples
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Prepare the crepe batter: in a bowl beat the egg, then add the flour and vanilla. Add the milk, sugar and melted butter and whisk again until smooth.
  2. Add the rosewater or orange blossom water — optional, added at the end.
  3. Peel the apples and cut into medium-thick round slices, then remove the cores from the center of each slice.
  4. Add the apple slices to the crepe batter and gently toss to coat them without breaking.
  5. Heat a generous amount of oil until hot, then carefully place the coated apple slices into the oil.
  6. Fry until golden, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. If a little batter remains, stir in 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and fry small crepe rounds to serve with the fried apple slices.
  8. Arrange the fried apple crepes on a serving plate, dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
