Coconut Caramel Balls

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 cups shredded coconut
Method
- Place half the sugar, i.e. 1/2 cup, in a saucepan over the heat; when the sugar melts add the remaining half and let the sugar melt completely and turn a caramel-brown color.
- Put the butter over the sugar and mix well. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Take about 3 tablespoons of the mixture and set it aside for decorating later.
- Let the caramel mixture cool well, then add the coconut and stir; knead by hand and continue adding shredded coconut until the dough stops sticking to your hands.
- Shape the mixture into small balls. Make a small well in each ball and fill the well with the reserved caramel. You can also decorate the center with a small chocolate if you like.
