How to Make Cheese Borek
Cheese borek are loved as a light, delicious appetizer. Fillings and pastry sheets vary, but the tasty result remains the same. Here is a tasty cheese borek recipe.
Cheese borek... everyone agrees it's delicious :)
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1 cup grated halloumi cheese
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Ready-made phyllo sheets
- Flour and water to seal the sheets

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix the halloumi and mozzarella with the cornstarch... the cornstarch is necessary so the cheese does not ooze out of the phyllo during frying
- Mix one tablespoon of flour with a little water until you have a sticky mixture suitable for sealing the cheese borek
- Place a little filling on each phyllo sheet and roll them into rolls or as desired... then seal them with a little of the flour-and-water mixture
- Fry the borek in hot, deep oil until they are slightly colored
