How to Make Hamburger Buns

Make hamburger buns at home with this easy, foolproof, tried-and-tested recipe. Once you make them yourself, you won't want to buy store-bought burger buns again.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 kilo flour
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup liquid milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients first, then add the water and oil and knead well.
  2. Let the dough rest for 1 hour, then shape it into medium-sized balls, or any size you want for burger buns, and let it rest for another 4 hours.
    Timers: 60 min, 240 min
  3. After the required time has passed, place the baking tray in the preheated oven.
  4. Bake until the dough balls puff up, cook through, and turn golden brown.
