How to Make Mashatih Bread

Mashatih bread is a thick, hearty loaf perfect for breakfast, served with dairy, cheeses, and jams. Why not surprise your family by making it at home and serving it warm and freshly baked? Here is a delicious Mashatih bread recipe.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 kilogram flour
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Sesame seeds
  • Nigella seeds
  • Fennel seeds

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix the dry ingredients, and add from the nigella seeds, sesame seeds, and fennel seeds as desired.
  2. Add the oil, then the milk and water gradually to obtain a soft dough...
  3. Oil a glass bowl and leave the soft dough in it and cover until it rises...
  4. After the time has passed, grease a baking sheet with oil, then take pieces of the dough in the size you desire and shape them on the sheet as you like, keeping your hands wet with oil so the dough doesn’t stick...
  5. Press your fingers into the surface of the dough; this is called the scoring. Sprinkle with nigella, sesame, and fennel seeds as desired...
  6. Place the sheet in a hot oven, on the middle rack at high temperature... when cooked, brown the surface slightly...
  7. Remove Mashatih bread from the oven and cover with a cloth to keep it soft...
