Date Tart

Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- Base layer
- 2 packs plain unsalted biscuits
- 3 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
- How to make the base
- Filling
- 15 dates, pitted
- 1/2 large can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can thick cream (qeemar), 170 g
- 5 tablespoons powdered milk
- 1 teaspoon cocoa or instant coffee
- 4 portions cream cheese
- 1/2 cup water
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Place the biscuits in a blender and grind into crumbs.
- Add the butter and blend until combined.
- Press the mixture into a cheesecake pan or a medium Pyrex dish, rubbing with your hands to ensure the butter is evenly distributed and there are no lumps.
- Press down gently to compact the base.
- Place the pan in the refrigerator to chill.
- Place the pitted dates, sweetened condensed milk, thick cream, powdered milk, cocoa (or instant coffee), cream cheese and water in a blender.
- Blend until you get a smooth, homogeneous mixture.
- Pour the mixture over the biscuit base in the pan.
- Place the pan in the oven and use only the top heat for 15 minutes at 180°C (350°F).Timers: 15 min
- When the tart’s surface looks set but not browned, turn off the oven and remove the tart.
- Let the date tart cool to room temperature, then chill in the fridge until fully set.
- Garnish the date tart with fruits such as strawberries or cherries, or with nuts — as desired.
