Recipe story

Caramel popcorn... a fun snack for movie night — kids will love it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • Here is Muffin with Caramel Sauce at the link

Method

  1. In a nonstick pot place the popcorn kernels with the oil and a pinch of salt, mix well and spread them in the center of the pot.
  2. Sprinkle the sugar around the edges of the kernels in a circular pattern, cover the pot and leave over low heat until the popcorn begins to pop.
  3. Shake the covered pot every so often to move the popcorn with the caramel; stop when you no longer hear popping sounds.
  4. Remove the lid and let the popcorn cool slightly.
  5. Separate the caramel popcorn pieces by hand because they stick together due to the caramel.
  6. Serve the popcorn immediately.
