Crispy za'atar biscuits.. an easy homemade recipe with a wonderful taste! Very delicious with labneh, for example, or just for crunch :)

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix the flour and oil using the rubbing-in method by hand until the flour absorbs all the oil
  2. Then add the cornstarch, za'atar, salt, yeast and baking powder and mix them well together
  3. Begin adding warm water gradually and knead until the dough comes together
  4. Brush it with oil and let it proof for about an hour. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean surface and roll the dough with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 1 centimeter
  5. Cut it into long strips, hold each strip by both ends and twist it on itself (in a curly or rope shape), and repeat until all the dough is used
  6. Arrange the pieces on a tray lined with parchment paper or lightly greased with oil
  7. Put them in the oven (center rack) at 200°C with both top and bottom heat on
  8. Bake them for half an hour or according to your oven's strength until they brown
