Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix the flour and oil using the rubbing-in method by hand until the flour absorbs all the oil
- Then add the cornstarch, za'atar, salt, yeast and baking powder and mix them well together
- Begin adding warm water gradually and knead until the dough comes together
- Brush it with oil and let it proof for about an hour. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean surface and roll the dough with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 1 centimeter
- Cut it into long strips, hold each strip by both ends and twist it on itself (in a curly or rope shape), and repeat until all the dough is used
- Arrange the pieces on a tray lined with parchment paper or lightly greased with oil
- Put them in the oven (center rack) at 200°C with both top and bottom heat on
- Bake them for half an hour or according to your oven's strength until they brown
