Bulgur with Tomato and Beef

Coarse bulgur cooked with tomatoes and beef — a classic, hearty dish. Nutritious and kid-friendly; can be made vegetarian by omitting the meat.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 4 dry onions (or 4 onions)
  • 1 hot green pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil mixed with vegetable oil
  • Salt
  • A pinch of seven-spice mix
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 3 cups coarse bulgur
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 kg beef, cut into small pieces

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Finely chop the onion and sauté it in oil with a pinch of salt and seasoning until it softens.
  2. When it softens, add the bell pepper cut into small cubes and stir briefly.
  3. Add the beef and stir.
  4. When the meat is cooked, add the tomato paste and finely chopped tomatoes with a pinch of salt.
  5. After a few minutes of stirring, add water and let them simmer for half an hour over low heat.
  6. After half an hour, add the coarse bulgur, stir, cover the pot, and leave it on low heat until the bulgur with tomato and beef is cooked.
  7. Serve the bulgur with tomato and beef with yogurt, salad, pickles and vegetables as desired.
