Ingredients
- 3 onions
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups yellow split lentils
- 1 cup Egyptian rice
- 10 cups water (at a rate of 5 cups of water for each cup of lentils)
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon turmeric

Method
- Finely chop the onions and sauté them in a pot over medium heat with the oils until softened and lightly golden.
- Add the lentils and rice after washing and draining them well.. then add the water and let the pot come to a boil.. reduce the heat and let the lentils and rice cook over low heat.
- When the ingredients are cooked... add the salt and spices and stir for a few minutes until the mujaddara is well combined.
- Pour it out or divide it into bowls or a large serving dish, as desired.
- Serve yellow split lentil mujaddara with lettuce salad and a squeeze of lemon, if desired, along with pickles and olives .. and it can be eaten with Arabic bread.
