Recipe story

Red lentil mujaddara is a delicious and very beneficial recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup bulgur
  • 1 kilo red lentils
  • 2 kilos finely chopped onions
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil

Method

  1. Heat a generous amount of oil in a pot over the heat and fry the chopped onions until they become very dark red
  2. In a second pot, boil the lentils until cooked
  3. Leave the lentils covered with about 1 cm of water, then add the bulgur and the fried onions on top
  4. Adjust the salt, stir, and let them simmer over low heat, covering the pot until the bulgur is cooked
  5. Turn off the heat and let them rest so the bulgur grains fluff up well
  6. Note: To make a softer, mashier mujaddara, add more water over the lentils
  7. Fafi nohmn tahini
