Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • Vanilla
  • 180 g sugar
  • 180 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • a small pinch of salt
  • Simple syrup or fruit juice
  • Whipped cream
  • Strawberries

Method

  1. In the mixing bowl put the eggs and vanilla and beat on high speed
  2. While beating, add the sugar in batches and continue beating for 10 minutes
  3. Prepare the flour with baking powder and a pinch of salt and sift them twice
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and fold from top to bottom until all is incorporated
  5. When finished, pour the batter into a 20 cm cake pan greased with butter and dusted with flour
  6. Place the sponge cake pan into an oven preheated five minutes earlier and bake for 40 to 45 minutes
  7. Let the cake cool, then cut it horizontally into 4 layers
  8. Syrup the layers, fill with cream and strawberries, then frost the outside with cream and decorate as desired
  9. Chill the sponge cake in the refrigerator for a sufficient time before serving
