2 eggs, vanilla

2 cups flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup orange juice

Grated zest of 3 oranges

We start by whisking the eggs with vanilla... then add sugar and continue whisking, then add the oil...

We whisk the mixture for several minutes until the sugar dissolves, then begin adding the flour and baking powder and continue whisking.

Add the orange juice and zest and whisk until the ingredients are well combined.

Pour the batter into a cake tin and bake in a preheated oven. Do not open the oven for about 40 minutes, or until it has risen and is cooked. Insert a wooden skewer to check doneness. Remove from the oven and let it cool a bit before transferring to a serving plate. You can decorate it as you like, for example with a dusting of powdered sugar and a few lines of chocolate drizzle.

  6. Leave the cake in the oven without opening it at all for about 40 minutes or until it has risen and cooked; insert a wooden skewer to check that the cake is cooked through. Remove it from the oven and leave it on a slightly cool surface until it settles and cools before transferring it to a serving plate. It can be decorated in any way you like or with what you have available — we decorated this orange cake with a dusting of powdered sugar and a few lines of chocolate syrup.
