- 4 eggs.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- Syrup (qater or shira) for soaking the Rwani
- Which consists of:
- 1 and a half cups water
- A few drops of lemon juice.
- A dash of vanilla or a cinnamon stick or 1 tablespoon orange juice for flavoring

Method

- Preheat oven to 170°C. Butter and flour a cake pan.
- Beat eggs and orange zest with an electric mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes, then add sugar and vanilla and continue beating for another 5 minutes.Timers: 5 min
- Add oil while continuing to mix, then add orange juice.
- Mix flour, cake flour, and baking powder with shredded coconut.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture gradually with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until done. Do not open the oven early.Timers: 45 min
- To make the syrup, combine water and sugar in a small pan, add lemon juice and boil for 7–10 minutes. If using a cinnamon stick, add it with the sugar and water from the start.Timers: 10 min
- When the cake is done, remove from the oven and spoon the warm syrup over it, then decorate as desired.
