Rice with green or frozen fava beans is a quick dish for working women and good for kids after a long day at school. We hope you enjoy our easy method.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- Ground meat
- A pinch seven-spice
- A pinch ground cinnamon
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Green or frozen fava beans
- 1 cup Egyptian rice, washed
- 1 1/2 cups water
Method
- Put the oil in a pot over the heat and add the chopped onion.
- When the onion is lightly fried, add the ground meat with salt and spices — seven-spice mix, black pepper, and ground cinnamon to taste. Let the meat and onion fry well, then add the frozen fava beans.
- Continue mixing, then add the washed Egyptian rice and mix the ingredients well.
- Add a pinch of salt to taste, then water, and bring the mixture to a boil; then reduce the heat and let it cook gently.
- Transfer the fava-bean rice to a wide serving dish. Garnish with the fried ground meat and nuts such as almonds, pine nuts, and pistachios as available and desired.
