Pasta with Meatballs

Pasta with meatballs is a popular, family‑favorite dish, especially loved by kids. You can make this recipe easily, and it won’t take long.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1/2 kilogram ground beef
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan or mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon pomegranate molasses – optional
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes, or 6 fresh tomatoes
  • spaghetti or fettuccine, to taste

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In a deep pot over the heat, put 1 teaspoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt. Boil the pasta and set it aside.
  2. In a deep bowl, mix the minced meat with the spices, finely chopped parsley, and crushed garlic.
  3. Add the egg to the meat mixture, then add the breadcrumbs.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into medium-sized balls.
  5. In a wide, deep frying pan, heat olive oil and fry the meatballs, turning them gently from time to time until browned on all sides, about 8 to 10 minutes.
    Timers: 10 min
  6. Peel the fresh tomatoes, chop them and puree them in a blender. Add them over the meatballs. If using canned tomatoes, add those instead.
  7. You may add pomegranate molasses at this stage if desired.
  8. When the tomato mixture with the meatballs comes to a boil, reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let the meatballs simmer gently for about 12 minutes.
    Timers: 12 min
  9. Once the meatballs are cooked, you can add the pasta or boiled noodles to the meat pot, or place the pasta on the serving dish and top with a few meatballs and some sauce.
  10. Sprinkle a little cheese over the pasta with meatballs as desired.
